BRAKE PAD WARNING INDICATOR
I have closer to 1/4" on the rear. My mechanic was trying to sell me rear brake pads, until I told him, there is no indicator for low rear pads. These pads were changed 22.5Kmi ago. The dealer topped off the fluid then. I didn't know the indicator is the same for front pad low and fluid low.

Having now put brake fluid in, you have lost your early warning of your rear brake pads going.
By the time your brake fluid gets low enough to trigger the warning light your pads are pretty close to worn out. Unfortunately, your next warning is going to be metal grinding at which time you will need pads and discs.

WTF? It's not brake fluid that triggers the brake pad alarm. The pads have sensors in them - metal strips that allow a signal to pass through the pad. Wiring hooks up to the pad from the car that sends a continuous signal to the pad. Once the signal is broken (ie. the pads have worn down enough to wear through the metal strip) the brake pad warning goes off...
Worn rear pads (no sensor) will never bring the brake fluid low enough to trigger a low brake fluid warning unless you are low on fluid to begin with
That is not a definate statement

Front pads only have senors. Rears don't.
With the amount of brake fluid that comes from the factory, the low brake fluid warning will light prior to the rear brakes totally worn out.
