I'm sure it would go back to normal, just give it a couple days, depending on how much you drive, then start out in 1st, then go to second, then shoot up to 5th and if you have no power at all, I mean nothing, then you might have a thinning clutch.

The clutch in my 01 A4 just burned up (with lots of smoke and foul smells !) with only 50K miles on it. Mechanic showed me the original which I find hard to believe and which he said he had never seen before in 30 years. The clutch plate was broken in three pieces. Is this possible or was he using a marketing trick to impress me, as he wanted to keep the plate to show others. What does a replacement clutch cost and how many hours to replace ?
