Hey Guys,

I have a 99 2.8 Q (tiptronic)

I noticed that when I start my car and turn on my A/C with the temp level at "LOW" the engine of the car is really loud. I can hear it a bit from the inside the car only with my windows down, but when I have the car parked and stand outside the car the Engine is really loud. However, when I dont have the A/C on the engine is not so loud. Any ideas.

BTW by "engine" i mean under the hood of the car.

Do you mean the noisy electric fan that comes on when the air conditioner is on? That is normal

 

it may be normal, when my fan is on my engine sounds kinda loud. but however at idle i did have a problem with a rad motor fan that was just way too loud, sounded like a sewing machine almost, if this is what it kinda sounds like, the motor on one of the fans is going, if its really loud, but just sounds liek a whoosh of air or somethin like that, it may be normal

 

Sounds like a LOUD WHOOOOSH..Like a JET airplane would sound. Dont hear any rattling or any "sewing machine" sound.

 

Open the hood. You will find that the noise is coming from the auxillary electric fan. It is normal

 

Definitely the fan dude. Nothing to worry about unless it is squeeling or making any other "Oh Sh.it" noises.

 

Yeah that is normal, nothing to worry about.

 

Just chill out dude but I would keep an ear out for anything else that might sound different because you can ignore everything.

 

I don't know...........the clutch on my A/C compressor just gave out the other day. It was a rumbling squeeking noise

 

Well....... I f it dies then you know it was on it's way out.... LOL. Just make sure eveything is tight
