Can rotors on 03' a4 Quattro be resurfaced?
I need help, I went to a car shop and I already knew that I have to replace my brakes. They told me that I have to replace my brake pads, sensors, and rotors. I know in some places and websites that sensors come with the brake pads, I was going to resurface my rotors, but I heard that with Audi's you HAVE to replace the rotors and they cannot be resurfaced. Is this true or not? Resurfacing rotors would obviously save ALOTof money. Thanks!

not positive but i dont beleive that you can resurface the rotors. the only possible thing that i beleive u can do is what they call cut the rotors, which is in theory a similar idea to what u want accomplished. again dont quote me on this but that is what i beleive they can do.

You really shouldn't re-surface a factory audi rotor because they are made of a softer material than most rotors, the laythe tends to cut deeper into the rotor and will heat up faster the next time you use them, which leads to faster wearing pads and warped rotors.

I see, then can you replace or is it good to to replace the factory rotors with vented rotors or vented slotted rotors? Also should the rear brake rotors be replaced when doing a brake job as well as brake pads? I know the rear rotors don't ware off as easy and the people at the shop just told me that I had to replace my front and didn't say anything about my rear. Thanks!

first off, if they are trying to charge you seperately for sensors, stay away... they dont have actual sensors in them but rather a strip that when its worn through it breaks the connection
im sure audi rotors are similar to any other rotor but i have warped mine two times with factory rotors so like the tech said it seems they are made from a softer material and if you resurface them, they will be thinner and warp easier....
i got ECS cross drilled and slotted, mainly for looks but it did help reduce fade and i havent been able to warp these.. next time im just going slotted only...
