Well....I have a 99.5 audi a4 1.8T Tip and i have a hard time getting it started....It seem like i have to let the car cool down before i try to start it or else it just wont start....I change the starter but the problem is still there...Today when i tried to start it and it was turning over but didnt start and i started smelling alot of gas coming from some where....can this be the problem? what can i check or do? Thanks for any advice.

 

its a huge problem, you smell gas for couple of reasons possible, leak posible, overflow posible, leak posible, oops I just said it.

many old audies have problem with cold start injector, check it.

 

Get a vag and check it maybe your coil packs

 

so do i just replace the cold start injectors?

 

I dont think ours have them, just older ones i think the comp takes care of cold start but i dont know for sure

Yea thats what i mean...it sound like its turning over...but just wont start....and when it does start, it struggles and finally start after the 10th time...

 

remember, this only happens when the motor is hott...after 20 min of lettting it cool down then its fine....like when i go get gas....1.stop the motor 2. pump gas about 1 1/2 mins and then try to start it....it wont start, have to let it sit for more then 20 min until it will

Sure, replace them,,, if they exist..

It's most likely your ECT sensor. go get one. green tops are really cheap, blues are more expensive at a whopping $15.
