Cant open my hood!
I just bought a 97' Audi A4 last week and Im new to the Audi. I tried opening the hood today but it wouldnt open. I even pulled off the grill and tried pulling the latch with pliers and I tried pulling the cable on the inside latch but the hood didnt pop! Im figuiring that the cable is broke. Can someone tell me how I can get this open?

RE: Cant open my hood!
Will that brake the latches or just release them? Should I pry in the middle of the hood? This **** is very frustrating, at this point Im willing to try anything to get this hood open.
Thanks for the fast reply!

middle of the hood. this is not to pry the hood but to brake the latches. these can be easaly replaced. get the tip under the end of the hood. like this

the little "^" is the hood and the "/" is the prybar
make sure you dont break the grill or smash the fins for the compressor
to do this place a foot on some cinderblocks that are placed close to the front of the bumper. put the bottom of the prybar against your thigh and use that for leverage instead of another peice of the car

RE: Cant open my hood!
Ok Ill try that first thing in the morning and Ill keep you posted!
And one more thing, if and when I do get this hood open could I install those quick release fasteners that are mounted on top of the hoods instead of the regular set up so that I wont have this problem again?

Before doing anything with a pry bar, you do know that there is a secondary latch that you have to release manually. It is the little black handle that pops out of the grill in the second Audi ring on the passenger side
Assuming that you pulled the interior release, and the hood didn't move at all, go buy some liquid wrench and spray in on the hood release. Let it penetrate and then pull on the cable while you simultaneously give a hard upward pull.
