Default Removing wheel

I feel silly asking this, but I can't get the wheel off my daughters 99 A4 Quattro. I removed the 5 lug studs from a rear wheel, but the wheel won't budge. Then I pried off the small center to the wheel, and there seems to be another bolt under there. Does that come off to change a tire? She doesn't have the Owners manual.
First time I've ever had trouble removing a wheel. This is becoming a difficult break job.

Thanks for the help.

Hmm, that's weird. Im not insulting you by these questions. Is the car all the way jacked up? Are all 5 lugs removed? That's all it should be. The only thing else i could think of is that its rusted onto the base of where it meets to the rotor, but they normally don't rust.

the "bolt" in the centre of the wheel is hte hub. just give it a wiggle, these things don't slide off as easy as they do on TV. Think about all the grit (and rust) that has collected in there. give it a wiggle, pull the hell outta it. it'll come off. try pulling up and out. remember these things are heavy, so the weight of the wheel may be setting the rim at an awhward angle on the mount not allowing it to slide off

wheels locking onto hubs is common and has a few causes i believe. rust, salt, freezing. use a rubber mallet.

So I've tried three different wheels now, and none of them budge. They sure don't wiggle, and there is no good place to pound on them. Can't get any force by pounding on the tire, and cant really hit the wheel from the backside. One thought that comes to mind is to put the 5 lug bolts back in but lose a turn or two, and drive around a hard corner or two.

What am I missing?

Thanks again,
Dan

Success!!
Per a posters suggestion, I put in 3 lug bolts about half way, and rolled the car back and forth, and it came loose.

Thanks for all the help.
