Default car burns oil

I recently bought a used 98' Quattro A4. It's a fun car to drive but the damn thing burns oil. I can use a quart in between oil changes. The car is not blowing any blue smoke and the head gasket does not seem to be blown. Any idea why the damn thing burns oil?

bad PCV, bad valve cover gasket or bad piston ring(s). Best to start with pulling off the intake and look for excessive oil. The valve cover would leak around the block and leave oil on the tranny and anything under the head. And a compression test would answer if you have a bad ring or few.

A quart between oil changes is really not much at all - I wouldn't sweat it. Many mechanics will tell you that as well.

If you just bought it, how do you know it burns a qt. between oil changes? I wouldnt consider 3-5k miles agoas "just bought it". Know what I mean?

if your using syn oil like your suppose to, then it is a hell of alot of oil. You really should find out where its going to.

"RECENTLY BOUGHT" onepoint8tee.

recently (re-cent-ly):
1.of late occurrence, appearance, or origin; lately happening, done, made, etc.: recent events; a recent trip. 2.not long past: in recent years. 3.of or belonging to a time not long past.
Sooo, I dont really know what you mean[8D]
