Thanks for your input cincyTT. I'm not sure where the oil is going. I do get some white smoke off the tail pipe initially, when I start the engine. The car also emits whie smoke at a drive thru in cold temputers after drivng for a little while. Should that be a sign for concern? It does not blow white smoke when the car is wormed up and idling.

My idea of "recent" is weeks/hundreds of miles. Not months/thousands of miles. But anyway.................. If youre not using fullsynthetic, make the switch. None of that semi synthetic crap.A little white smoke on a coldstartup is nothing to worry about, especially in colder temps.

I bought the car with 63000 thousand miles on it. I changed the oil when I got the car. I am now at 66000 and I am ready to change it again. I use Mobil One synthetic oil. I am thinking of adding a oil treatment (CD2) to the car in my next oil change. Next best thing to nothing. Hopefully it will help, although I doubt it.

sounds like you have some rings that are going bad. Get a compression tester and follow the how to on top of the forum

my car 2.8 eats over a qt between 3k miles oil changes. i get it changed locally however, so they top it off the mobil 1 synthetic free. my car has been drinking oil like this for all 40k miles i have owned it. never seems to be a problem, no leak i know of, you just have to stay up on checking your oil level often + carry some extra qts with you

its normal ie:- 1 liter per 1,000 miles ( depending on weather conditions ) information from dealers,

4.6 liters to a gallon UK,
4 quarts USA,

so 1 quart over 5k miles is extreamly good ( approx oil change times )

thats some interesting stuff there techbod.....

that should answer your questions about burning a little oil...

I was lossing oil for a while about a little more than a quart inbetween changes.... but come to find out it was a bad oil pan gasket...
so if its excessive take a look around

Thank you all so much for your positive feedback. I feel allot more comfortable knowing that it is not unusuall for my car to burn oil. I no longer feel like it's neccessary for me to rush to the nearest mechanic. Although, I feel as though I should get it checked out when convenient.
