Car Shouldnt Be Running???
2003 A4 1.8T
When I recently changed my battery my alarm began to ring constantly and wouldnt respond to any of my keys or the door locks themselves.
It still starts and drives though, I just spoke to my Audi service garage and they told me it's equipped with an-anti theft safety that would keep the car from starting if the alarm was still going off.
Is my car completely fucked??
Can I disconnect the alarm system somehow so I can drive it to the dealer?
Is there some reset function I would be able to perform with the keys in the ignition or with the radio?
Thanks

Its possible your keys lost their immoblizer coding but rare, when you try and start the car do you see a yellow light flashing that looks like a car with a key through it? If you do that means the immoblizer doesn't recognize your keys and they have to be reprogrammed through audi. You will also have to tow it if thats the case.
The immobilizer and the alarm are two separate things.
Immobilizer prevents the engine from running if a valid key chip isn't present in the key.
The alarm sounds if a door is opened, interior motion is sensed or the car is moved while it's armed. I don't know if the alarm disables the car from being started when it's armed, but with the immobilizer I don't see why it would need to. After all, you need the key to start the car, and to unlock it, which disarms the alarm.
Does the remote still work to lock/unlock the doors?
