I am having a problem with my 96 Audi A4 quattro. When i start my car it turns over, but then stalls/ dies within a couple seconds. then i try to start it again, and it starts, then fails. i then try to start it again, pressing the gas at the same time, doesnt seem to help, but as soon as i put it into gear it seems to start up and it runs fine, never stalls when im driving. Just wondering if anyone knows what this could be, what is causing it and what needs to be done. I am a new owner to this car, only had it since may 06. So any help would be great!

 

Probably the engine coolant temp. sensor. Search on it.
