Onepoint8tee, wouldnt that just make sense because the chip doesn't changethe characteristics of theignition, just timing and fuel? or am i wrong?

Right the coil packs dont recieve more voltage or anything.

chips in general are known to fry coil packs after its been installed, so that is probably it if i were to guess since you just got chipped.
Not sure where you get your info from, but that is 100% incorrect.
EPC light relates to the DBW system and comes on when throtle cut occurs (normally). A throtle body adaptation might be the solution, but if your CEL is flashing, then its probably a coil pack or cracked spark plug insulator.
i read it from one of you top guys a long time ago, so i could easily be wrong.

but yes, that would be a flashing cel light and probably not the epc.

I know on the B6 chipping often leads to dead coils... I don't get why, but it's very common.

this is for the installation. not much help but it's something. it seems like nothing is firing except
3 lol. culprits: spark plugs, crank sensor, ECT, and ICM.

OH BOY. I just put in my speedtuning chippedecu tonight. The car runs fine and never had coil pack problems so I have never replaced them. But mine is a 2000 B5, so are mycoil packs any better? I just don't want to havethis problem happening to me when I'm driving to or from work this week. Idid a quick testdrive, but didn't really push the car because it was snowingout and I didn't get out to the highway. The chip does definitely give more power...but I'mgoing to keep the 8mmwrench and stock ecu in my car just in case...althoughthat won't fix a bad coilpack, icmor crank sensor... good luck apr_a4 and let me know what happens.

ATW enginecoil packs never go bad. We are just lucky like that [8D] 2000+ dont have ICM's either, so we are sitting pretty as far as ignition components go.
