Ok so i was sitting at the stop light and heard a weird rattling noise in the back of the car. It sounded like the exhaust was rattling. Then when i took off i got to about 15 mph and then the gas pedal hit the floor with no response in the speed. Then the car died, now i can't get it to start. It says i have gas, no check engine light but it won't stay started. It kind starts goes up to 1000 rpm and then it just dies no matter what i do, it seems like i am getting no gas. IT is a 03 1.8T A4, with just under 60000 miles. Any help would be nice. THANKS.

 

Did you check your timing belt maybe its bad.Have you replaced your fuel filter lately?

 

No i haven't checked the belt. I just bought the car 3000 miles ago, i have done nothing maintenence wise. I was waiting to hit 60000 to do the service.

 

Well its about time for a service then if your car is not running.

 

Could be an 02 sensor too... But then again im just throwing on random guesses

 

I had this happen to me once minus the rattle from the rear of the car and it turned out to bea bad MAF.. might want to look into that

 

How much did a MAF cost you?
