hi , mine doesn't have anything under it either just a square with a felt type pad on the bottom of it, it holds my cell phone and radio remote.

well it really only holds them when they fly off my seat, taking corners. I love the square it always catches it. LOL

I'm not sure about the B5, but my B6 has a small cut-out between the seats, behind the shifter that hold my cell phone. There is a larger cut-out directly under the armrest that has what seems to be a USB connection in the front of the cut-out pointing towards the back seats. Anyone know about this? Know what it's for???

I have a 98, and to the right of the e-brake under the armrest is a small un-topped box...3" wide 8" long and about 2" deep...nothing special, I toss change in there and use my ashtray to hold my phone....
