Default Check engine light

I brought my 98 A4 in for rear wheel bearings and an oil change.
When I picked it up from the shop the Check Engine Light was on
and the car ran like CRAP. I brought it back the same day.
The code was the #1 cycl. not fireing. He replaced the coil still not fireing.
He checked the fuse that was ok.
ANY IDEAS, HELP Besides find a new mechanic.

My wife drove the car home from the shop. She said it was skipping, no power, shaking and
the Check Engine Light was flashing. I talked to the machanic today he said he thinks it's the
power unit or power modual cost of about $400. Strange coinsidence the car ran great when
we brought it in to the shop.

ack, just make sure she doesn't drive it on a blinking CEL. Can you get the exact code that the ECU was giving? There are many differenct misfire codes.
