Chipping 1.8T Auto?
No thats not true.. But of course the more power, the more strain on the mechanical parts, the less lifetime it will have. I belveive the auto tranny on our cars can reliably handle upwards toward 250 hp/Tq. It wouldnt be a great idea to do much more than a chip with an auto tranny... A k04 maybe.. But I have heard of people doing much more than that with their auto's with no problems. THe a4 auto tranny is known to be very "bullet proof" and withstand lots of power (less 300 hp). I have a chipped auto and so far i havent noticed anything negative. Pay attention to the posts and do searches, if you hear something bad believe it, and vice versa, you will find that you wont hear much about auto tranny problems no matter what. A chipped auto isnt gunna give you problems.
Who told you it would destroy the tranny?

We have this dude that service Audi specifcally here locally in Toronto, he said the tip tranny will start slipping anything over 170HP... i was thinking of getting a giac or revo and see if i can get it to aroudn 190
