more air will not make the car loose power (unless its hot air and creating heat soak on a turbo car like I said.). and throttle reponse on a 2000+ audi is a biggie for me, cause the delay for the fire by wire system sucks. Im glad I got a 99.5.

Id like to race a chipped 1.8t just to see how fast they really are. I think a chip for a 1.8t is a night and day differance because the 1.8t are freakin slow to begin with.

Technicaly more air creates a more lean mixture which technicaly can cause you to lose power.. Unless Im technical talking out of my ***? Sounds right though. Maybe the MAF tells the ecu to correct that uneven mixture?? I dunno... All I know is what i know from my own experiences.. The 4cyl with short ram and cold air was a 93 and 99 integra gsr and the 6cyl was a 3.0 maxima.

You would most likely lose... I have raced a 2.8 before.. KILLED him off the line and was consistantly 1 or 2 cars ahead of him.. And i was in an automatic and his was 5spd. This was in Dublin Ohio about a month ago.. He was a yellow 30v.. If you are in here, yellow 30v, speak up!!!

This was up to about 80mph.

Did you take offense to that? Thats just one occasion... The mechanic that works for the tuning shop that i got chipped at by me raced me in his wife's stock 2001 2.8. This was about 3 weeks after i got chipped, about 6 months ago, and lost too by about 1-2 car lengths up to about 60 mph from a stop. Sorry to burst your bubble. I thought chipped 1.8t's being faster than a stock 2.8 was common knowledge.

Ill go back there when i can to see if we can race again and have it documented with a video incase you dont have a chance to race a chipped 1.8t in the meantime.

You are talking out of your ***. Granted youd be right if the MAF wasnt there to meter air. What happens is with a CAI is more and cooler denser air is metered through the MAF and the signal of the amount is sent to the ecu to calculate and adjust the fuel amount dumped in. This is call short term fuel trim, where fuel is constantly added and taken away to try and maintain a stociometric a/f mixture. Then you have long term which adjusts to mods or driving style. When you add the CAI everything can and will adjust imediately to compensate for less or more air or fuel. This works the same for every mod. The reason you get bigger injectors and fuel system is that the duty cycle on the injectors cant compensate for the increase airflow from a s/c, BT or intake mani for n/a.

Id like to see a race between my car when its chipped vs a 2.8 with cai, chip, exhaust and tip chip. I bet it would be close , depending on the other driver.

yeah.. tip chip will give him a huge advantage though.. takes shifts from 1 sec. to something like .2?
