How much of a power gain do you get out of chipping a 1.8t

i have an 00 1.8t quattro
Check the sticky with 'useful links' or whatever. There's a chip thread... but yeah, roughly 50 hp and 50-80 pounds of torque.
That seems too good to be true. I cant wait.

GIACis the only (that i know of) company to offer a chip for the 2.8.. even then, it's $500 and only gives you 10hp.. not a very cost effective mod. but then again, there are none for the 2.8

sorry to keep bringing you down. if you wan't to mod, then get a 1.8t.. or upgrade to a B5 S4..

one thing you can do for cheap, is gut the main cats. not emissions friendly, but it can be really cheap/free. my buddy did it to his 2.8 and it sounded better. and he said he could feel a bit of better power

Can you do that and still pass a MANDATORYemissions test??? Ifnot I wouldn't do it.

^^ DOUBLE POSTER!

And No, you won't be able to pass emissions... or at least I highly doubt it. It's like running a test pipe.

you will need to do the anti fowler mod, to prevent cel's

most states emmisions for awd cars without an awd dyno, will just be a visual, and a code scan

Here in Ontario, they hook up your tailpipe to a computer and run the test.... With no cat, you would fail for sure. I guess that rules me out
