Hello:

I have a 2006 A4 2.0T...smooth ride...I really like it : )

One thing...if I start the car after it's been parked, within the first 10-20 feet of driving (usually at parking lot speed), I hear this "clunk" from the front...I can feel it when my foot is on the gas too...feels like it's coming from the tires/ABS.

I read on another thread that this noise is normal...ABS self-diagnostic kicking in after the engine starts.

I only hear this noise once, after starting the engine. I don't hear it if I put the car into park and leave the engine on, and go back into drive. Usuall, I hear the noise after the engine has been off for at least 30 mins or so.

Any comments would be appreciated...thanks...

It's the ABS boost pump kicking on. It only happens after startup and will happen each time you start the car.

Thats weird... I think that would get on my nerves after a while.

 

other strings discuss the same sound...makes sense...

do you not have abs?

 

I thought all the A4s has ABS at least USDM models.


It does sound like it might get a little annoying. But YOU can avoid it since you have an auto, get a remote start, staret it before you get in the car...Problem solved.

 

it's more of a tap/clink...helps to know the ABS is on...
