I have a 2005.5 Audi a4 6 speed manual i bought beginning of this year(april-ish). It currently just hit 70,000 miles yesterday. Very happy with it except for one thing

I bought the car from the real owner and the only mod he had was tein super street damper coilover/shocks ont he car and dropped it a bit(see pictures below).

It has a rattling/clunk noise int he front right under where the pedals are and stuff and it's so annoying because i had my car lifted and i went under w the guy and we removed the plastics and just pretty much tightened everything we could because it sound slike something is hitting or something is loose down there...

I am sure it's the coilovers....some people tell me my car is too low...i must raise it a bit...others tell me to buy suspension grease and lube everything i can....and some tell me that i probably need to get the shocks rebuilt..since they're aftermarket and that's part of having them.

From the year of the car 2005.5(basically 2006) till now..it's been like almost 7 years....and i have no idea when the first owner got the suspension on the car...so it can be as old as 7 years if he got it right when he purchased the car or it can be 3 years old, who knows!

It seems like he had the car lower....and maybe hit bump fast without knowing and maybe cause some damage....but everything looks perfect the car is very good condition only 70,000 miles so far. I think this because i had to replace both headlights because they're attached to the bumper and they were cracked and loose from where u screw them...and i only see that happening by riding the car low and going over a bump.....first thing to hit is the bumper...and the lights are attached to the bumper because i rmeoved the whole bumper to repalce the lights...

i'm going crazy trying to see whatt he noise is :

i am most certain it's the tein suspension! do u think raising the car half an inch int he front only where it makes the rattling.clunking noise it will go away?

i always have my music pretty loud because of how much the noise annoys me...it's also embarrassing when riding w others...it sound slike my car has somethign broken !

i've seen lower........ but the transmission cross member is easily accessible to speed bumps and potholes when the car is that low, and its only aluminum. Also check the top mount bolts for the struts to make sure they are tight.

I don't think the problem is the struts themselves, unless the shocks are bad but possibly something left loose in the process
