Ha! Sounds familiar...but in this case you can actually feelthe 'clunk' in the accelerator.

In models with DBW you wouldn't feel it in the accelerator. There's no mechanical connection between the pedal and the engine parts.

I guess I'm not surprised. I used to have a b5 which didn't do it either, but I've driven a handfull of b7's(auto and manual)...same deal. Still hoping that it's nothing to worry about.

Oh, and kpatz....I think all a4's beyond '00 have DBW.

I believe you are correct my 99.5 is non-DBW or DBC.

I've noticed it sometimes. It's more like something you can feel, vs. something you can hear. Never knew what it was, up until now.
