CLUTCH PROBLEM ANY IDEAS?
Lately I have been noticing my clutch pedal is sitting very low, I can actually put my foot under it and pull it up an inch or two with no resistance. I know the clutch is a bit worn b/c it used to pick up high but now I have very little travel in the pedal and have to put it to the floor to engage ion first gear. Up shifting can be achieved w/o using the clutch at any rpm. Also when I was parking last night I noticed a puff of smoke coming from the l/f wheel with clutch depressed. I am wondering if anybody has experienced this or have any idea what this may be. I am thinking a clutch master or the hydraulic slave leaking down? I have this car only a few months and I am not familiar with Audi. The car is a 97 A4 2.8 Quattro. The car has 78k on it and I do not have any service history. Any help? Thanks so much
I checked the master it is ok. There is also a resivor on the drivers front of the engine compartment that is in front of the ABS pump? I do not know what that is for but it ik also. I put the car up on the lift and pressed the clutch I do not see anything leaking down. I think the slave cylinder might be bad? I figure if i drop the trans i might as well just change the dick, pressure plate, slave and the throw out bearing? Any sugestions before I start this adventure?
