Default Cold air intake-MAF damage?

I have heard that installing a cold air intake (2.8, 12v) such as K&N etc. can cause damage to the MAF due to excess oils from the cone filter. TRUE/FALSE?
I bought a nice setup but do not want to install it if this is what you get at the end of the day.

it should be fine if the filter is factory sealed i bought on once for a different car the was factory sealed and they got buck wild with the oil there was a small puddle of oil in the bag some i lightly hit it with an air hose from the under side then wiped it with a clean rag and installed it and never had any issues with it but i won't do this unless the filter is super oily which is pretty rare from k&n

Yes, it can fowl the MAF, you just got to clean it all off the MAF. Or even better, get a foam filter & don't worry about it.
