Default Cold Air Intakes

Why can I not find a cold air intake for my 2003 A4 1.8T? Do they not make them? Are they bad for the car?

I've read the air box mod, but would like to hear from those who have created custom cold air intakes, if there are any of you out there.

If so, please let me know parts so that I can create my own as well.

Thanks!

i have a 98 a4 1.8t
and i have to say i am not a big buyer on the stock box is the way to go.
i have made what some could call a cold intake, but with the heat that comes off the turbo
cold is kind of hard..
yes the stock box brings in cold air, but think about it....
no matter how cold it comes in, it will get super heated by the turbo.
then the intercoller cools it back down.....
so let's not call it a c old air intake, but a high flow intake.
a few things will happen, you will get a bit more lag, but more air = more power.
so when it kicks in, it will pull harder...also, the stock box is made to kill some of the
quarky noies that the turbo and dv valve make..
it will be noiser in a few ways, some good, and some bad...
but just about any good big box auto store will have some kind of do it your self kits.
i do not know if your car is set up the way mine is, so i will not go into detials
but i am happy, i started with the base k & n intake, about 100 bucks
then got 2 90 degree bends to put the filter in a better spot......

if you need mor help ask

E

i like mine and all... it gives it a nice growl but nothing more than that... i was fully aware that there were and are 0 and possibly negative gains from running the intake setup but i had some extra cash laying around so i figured why not... theres a bunch out there... just assess the possibility of using money elsewhere if money is short
