for the 2.7t, you can expect the cranking pressure in psi to be about 17 to 20 times the value of the compression ratio. Since the 2.7t is a 9.3:1 engine, you should get somewhere in the neighborhood of 155-185.. but

i found this:
Info provided by Alldata: Compression Pressure Specifications New:9-13bar(130-189psi). Wear limit: 7bar(102psi). Max. permissible difference between cylinders: 3 bar(44psi).
Hope this helps.[/align]

Edit this with what the correct PSI should be for the different engines and itll make for a good DIY thread in the DIY section.
Anything else this needs for going in the DIY forum?

you should unhook the injectors so you dont have a pool of gas in the engine. Also, a fresh engine should be at 200psi across the board. The min is like 140psi and you shouldnt have more than 10% difference between the highest and lowest cylinders. If you have either less than 140psi or a larger difference in cylinders, you really should consider trading/selling (hard on the conscience i know) the car or rebuilding the engine by having the cylinders rehoned and adding in new rings.
I've never seen an audi engine go over 180 psi, 200 is a little extreme. Most of our engines 1.8,2.8,3.0,2.7 usually have around 160-170 psi range, and the compression really doesn't drop that much after 100k miles. (If the oil was changed correctly of course)

The service manager at the dealer said avg was 180, Cincy says FRESH is 200. Maybe that is 200 on a fresh engine with a little extra oil in the cylinders. But how often is someone going to do a compression check on a fresh engine? In my case, i waited until the warranty was up (and then some...) before getting ready to do all the cool stuff to make it faster and drive it into the ground quicker.

Why unplug the injectors or even remove them? Can't one simply as suggested simply pull the fuse? Perhaps the fuse # could be inserted into the DIY? Thanks>...

Hi, sorry to resurrect a pretty old thread but i was hoping someone would have a link to a similar writeup with images, as these ones have expired. I could really use it as I'm about to do this for the first time. Thanks in advance.
