oh for real? wow never thought of that I thought maybe the signal from the mileage wasn't stored in the cluster itself.... forget it then! I'm just gonna make audi give me a new one... <---- yeah right!

buy it new from audi, then the dealer can adjust the milage to be correct. It should be ~550ish depending your model + labor of course.

Having a car with a cluster displays incorrect is onlly illegal if you claim it as original milage. Just note the milage on the old cluster when removed and the milage on the new cluster when installed and then you can tell future buyers the actuall milage. Or you can just tell them that the milage in the vehicle is incorrect. As long as you dont try to pass it off as actual milage your good to go.

It does affect resale value however. Honestly, if someone told me that the car had 10K miles more than the odometer, I'd wonder if it had 40K more and probably wouldn't buy it.

Makes me wonder how many used audi's are for sale that have lower mileage junkyard clusters installed.

It aint just audis dude. Pretty much every car works that way. **** remember the old cars that the odometers only when to 100k. Really no way at all to tell the milage.

carfax report, ez. So I wouldn't try to pass your car off as less mileage than it really is.

Buy a used one cheap on ebay and take it to the dealer and have them put in the actual mileage. You'll probably end up paying more for the labor at the stealership than on the cluster itself.

used clusters can only be moved forwards, there is no way to move the milage back. Buying a used one will cause more problems than you probably want to deal with.

There is a guy on AZ selling both color and standard red/white clusters new.
