connect Daytime Running Lights in minutes
First I want to thank you guys who have been posting your learnings to this forum. I will use theinfoyou have posted and simplify it even more for those who want or need Daytime Running Lights.
Read this link to remove the lighting relay, it is as easy as stated.

I imported a 2001 USA A4 to Canada and now need daytime running lights. After accessing the relay boxshown in the link above, Isoldered a bridge wire between pin 14 & 17. No cutting of pins or wires, a simple 14 gauge 1/2" wire bridge from the base of pin 14 to the base of pin 17, then put it back together, yes there is room for the wire and still connectto the socket.
Finished. 7 minutes. Key on, lights on. Key off lights off. Pass the Canadian RIV regulation.
Could not have done it without you as I needed to know where the module was, how to getit out and the listing of what pin does what. I wouldlike to note that I am 51 and have had about 150 cars to date, own 7 right now. I do all my own work including full ground up restorationson exotics from engine building to totalrewiring. What I would have given for the information widely available on this forum and others like itin the years gone past! Just try getting information from a Mecedes dealer, yet the forums are loaded with it!
Many Thanks to all of you who post toforums and to those who maintain them.

To get it to a dealer I would have to put a permit on the car $$$ and presume I would have to pay them to change the country code. Is it possible for me to change the country code? If so how? I would like to change it so some of the information being reported by the computer digital display is metric.
I went to an Audi dealer and asked them about changing the country code. They told me it would do nothing for models 2001 and earlier, only 2002 and later. But they admitted they were not 100% certain and would do it for $55 if I want to check for sure.
Does anyone truly know the answer? Also is there a way I can change the country code myself without investing more than $55 the dealer will charge?
