contingent purchase of used A4
OK, so I bought this used 2000 A4 2.8L Q from a dealer. Not knowing Audi all that well, I made the deal contingent upon a 3rd party inspection. Car appears to have been meticulously maintained, 1 original owner, dealer acquired via trade-in. 94K miles. Took it to my mechanic that works on my Toyota and received a couple of things back that concern me. He found the following codes (P0118, P1516, P1602, P0306, and P0300). Mechanic said it's "not unusual to find 1 but to find 5 deserves an answer". He also found oil leaking from the front cam seal area. Most everything else checks out pretty nominally but his recommendation was that "if you can get out of the deal, I would". Seemed kinda harsh. Not being that familiar with the Audi line, I'm curious if these codes are ominous? What about the oil leak? Typical for A4s with that many miles? Confronted the dealer with the report and they offered to resolve the known issues. Car drives really well, mint condition inside and out. Comments, Audi senseis?
P0118-replace the ECT sensor
P0306-missfire on cyl 6
P0300-missfire
looks like your having missfires. when were the plugs changed last, or could be bad coilpacks. does the car drive fine?

No idea when the plugs were last changed. Suppose they could be the original. Car runs really well actually. Quite impressed with the power. Been driving it for 48 hours. Doesn't appear rough at all. Starts fine. It is possible the codes could clear on reset? Any idea about the others?
You'd notice a misfire. Especially with the new car scrutiny thing going on. I'd let the selling party know that there were codes thrown when checked, you'd like to clear the codes, pending they don't come back in 72 hours. A misfire CEL will come back if driven, they don't tend to just go away. If everything is starting and driving fine, the're most likely old codes not cleared after a repair. sounds like a coilpack.

you really wouldn't notice one cylinder misfiring on a v6 unless you were paying pretty close attention. i mean it could be random so you wouldn't pick it up as easily. you never told us anything about price. tell us how much your getting it for.
rsrbljan- there are no coilpacks on a b5 2.8 lol

I didn't do my reading. I thought it was a 1.8... that's why i came up with the "you'd notice" and the coilpacks.
