control arm recall

Recall means that they replace it whether it is broken or not. A service action means they should check it when you bring it in to see if it is broken. Then if you meet the requirements of Audi's service action memo, they should replace it free of charge.

all i showed my audi tech was a couple oil change receipts...he didn't even look at them until after he replaced the control arms...it's not a recall though, only a service action. if they aren't damaged, they don't have to replace them.

Also, they won't replace them if they are just making noise. They have to be faulty to the point where they are a safety risk.

just to make this clear and i dont embarrass myself when calling the audi dealer-

when i go over bumps (driveways etc..) i hear a clunk from the front. thats the control arms, correct?

it could be, but a clunking sound over bumps is usually a sign of bad tie rod ends

they didnt recall all of the B5's though you have to have a certain part number on the control arms that was recalled IIRC
