Coolant leaking issue.
Bad News
Whilst having the cylinder head and gasket replaced, the turbo required replacing which was of course another great expense. After all the work now the temperature gauge is playing up which wasn't happening before the head gasket replacement.
The temperature takes more than half an hour to get up to 90 and only if driving with high revs. Most of the time it fluctuates around 60-80 degrees. The strange thing is the waterpump and thermostat were changed only a few months ago so what could be causing the issue?
It sounds like a stuck open thermostat or sensor has gone however it only appeared as soon as the cylinder head was replaced. Could the mechanic have caused the issue or not replaced the cylinder head correctly?
I've ploughed so much money into this car now and thought it was fixed but this is beyond a joke now. Does anyone with experience know what might have happened so I don't get fobbed of by the mechanic if it is their fault.
Kind Regards Patrick

Are you loosing any coolent? If so then when they replaced the head the gasket might have moved and isn't seeling like it should (although I would think you would experince powwer loss with that).
I would have the stat checked (replaced) first.

I just saw my coolant reservoir go way down, and I took it in for service. The thermostat needed replaced, and so I asked for the water pump to be replaced, and they agreed with that.
Also, the leak was also showing up due to dry rot with a few of the hoses. So the hoses are being replaced.
All said, it was $1,300 and I have 72,000 miles on my 2009 A4 3.2 Quattro

It turns out that the thermostat issue was a sensor on the thermostat! Simple and problem solved... however
The old issue of coolant leaking has not completely gone away even after the total replacement of the water reservoir and cap, cylinder head, gasket, water pump, thermostat (twice).
Don't get me wrong the coolant is going down very slowly but nevertheless it is decreasing at a rate which still suggests an issue. I am now considering using K-seal just in case there is a slight gap somewhere in the head gasket and cylinder head seal or even where the block meets the head.
Has anyone used this stuff before? What can go wrong with it? It says on the instructions to add to the radiator so could someone point me in the correct direction of where exactly to pour it?
I am so determine to fix this car and I feel we are on the home straight... fingers crossed.
