hey, so ive been looking for my exhaust leak for a while now. brought it 3 different mechanics asking why it smells like exhaust in my car with the a/c and none of them could figure it out(by the way, its damn hard to find a good mechanic). I was looking over my engine and smelling where the exhaust was coming from and low n behold, walla! cracked hose. so it took a car newby(me by the way) to find the problem. i dont know what hose it is. its right under my intake manifold. its not to long and its sorta in a L shape. its got a elbow to it. its def where my exhaust is pouring out of. does anyone know what that is?

Thats a vacuum hose. A very common hose to fail too. Go to the dealer, or www.ecstuning.com sells it. Probably not the cause for the smell though. Our engines typically arent the cleanest smelling when running anyway. You should have the recirc button on while your ac is running to keep the hot outside air from entering the cabin.
Check your valve cover gasket. If its never been replace, its probably long over due. Oil will seep onto the head/cat/hot engine parts and stink pretty bad.
Nevermind, ECS only sells the one for ATW/AWM engines. You need one for an AEB. You probably wont have to get a personal loan if you get it from the dealer.

 

i went to ecs tuning and its not the vac hose, its too small. actually i think its the crankcase breather hose, it looks exact and it even says driver side under intake manifold. but im not 100% certain. i know a kid that used to work for audi and he said hes gonna look at it tomorow. so i will post back tomorow to u guys about it. thanks

 

Youre right, breather hose. But it wouldnt be the source for exhaust fumes.

 

Before I replace my crankcase breather hose, I had an exhaust smell. Now that I have replaced it I don't. So it might also be your problem with the smell

 

i think so as well. because the smell is coming right from that location. how hard was it to change?

hey guys. ok so i removed the crank case breather hose, n man let me tell you what a biotch that thing was to remove. also, when u goto the store it comes in one piece, when i took it off my car it was in 3. you have to see all the sludge and build up thats in there wow. so im waiting on one last part before i reinstall everything. ill let u guysk now how it went. ill post pics of the new parts and the old ones. ull have a good laugh trust me. thanks for the diy post. was help full
