Cranks but will not start
Need some serious help boys.... I am a newbie to the forum but have a heck of a problem sitting on jack stands in my garage.
I have a 2000 Audi A4, 1.8T 5 speed. Bought it knowing it had a oil pump that needed to be replaced. The car would only start if a battery boost was connected and the gas pedal was all the way to the floor. Bought it off a mechanic and yes I seen it run once.
I changed out the oil pump and now need to tackle the non start issue. I get a 16725 code Cam shaft sensor. I have a 1999 Audi A4 that was a a junk yard special and "it lives!!!" I removed the 2000 audi cam shaft cap and tested it on the 1999 audi. Fired up with no problem. cleaned the connector and checked the wires along the fuel rail. All seems well. But will crank and no ignition.
replaced the cam sensor cap, changed out the battery, replaced a extremely defective check valve. I get a radio antenna code and a temp sensor but I have the car in service position so I am thinking that is the cause of the temp sensor code. I roatated the timing marks three times spot on. Have not seen it run so not sure if the EPC or the CEL is lit.
I did get it to run briefly, just long enough to know the oil pump replacement was a success. I celebrate all successes.....LOL
I am a damsel in distress .... all help is appreciated.
Thanks up front!!
