Cruise Control Out...Fuse?
I just recently purchased a 1997 A4 2.8 Quattro, Automatic from an individual. I am loving it, but the cruise control does not work on it. I have been told that, obviously, the easiest fix for it could be replacing the fuse if it is bad. I opened the fuse box yesterday, though, and there is a guide telling the fuse number locations but not what each fuse is for. Does anyone know the fuse number and size for the cruise control on a 97 A4 2.8 Quattro automatic? Thanks!
Most likely the switch is bad and needs replacing. On the www.audiworld.com tech site, there is listed a "repair" process that involves cleaning the contacts, but it never worked for me.
Brake light switch could be the cause. I have see that. Scan for codes. I have also seen that sometimes for some odd reason the module will lose its coding for the cruise and not even know that it has that option. Fuse # by the way is S13. I would check the fuse and then look into a brake light swtch. It is in series with s13 and if it isnt good than the cruise stalk isnt going to get power.
has anything come of this, mine finally went out as well. i did notice that it worked a while, then when i hit a slight incline, it turned off and i couldnt turn it back on. i have a 1997 1.8T qm
I have a non-functioning cruise control, too. Luckily, I just bought the car and the dealership will make it right. They "fixed" it today, it worked this afternoon, then nothing tonight. They replaced the module, so apparently the stalk is bad. I looked through all of the old complaints about cruise control and I didn't ever see any resolution, so I will let you know when they figure out what the actual problem is.
Edit: Okay, I lied, the cruise control does work now...I thought it didn't, but it was user error. So, anyway, what they did to fix it was replace the module. I think it was like $150 for the part and who knows what they paid for labor, but that gives you an idea.
