Default CV Boot

While I was under the car changing the oil tonight, I noticed my passenger side front outer CV boot is ripped. Does anybody have any experience with this being covered by their CPO warranty? If not, I guess I will be replacing a boot, if not more, this weekend. Thanks.

Any competent shop should be able to do a CV boot. It's a mess but it's pretty straight forward. The dealer is bending you over at that price seeing as how the materials to do it only cost $15.

It's not that messy after you do a few.

I called my local dealer this morning and they said it was a "wear and tear item" and not under warranty. And yes, it does make a mess your first time as I am finding out right now. Parts were only $20 though.

well if its that cheap im definately not going to the dealership. two questions. one, how long does the instalation usualy take. two, would i be able to do it myself. i have a guy that can prob do it but i would rather learn these things myself and possibly save a couple of bucks.

A cv boot replacement takes about 45 min. if you have done them before. Yes you can do it if you are somewhat mechanically inclined and have someone or something to guide you through it.

its not that hard to do. its a good idea to take all the greese out and clean all the metal parts and then put new greese back in
