In-dash cupholder stuck, please help *searched*
The indash cupholder in my '00 2.8Q is sticking. I've been looking at all sorts of different threads about this, but most of them just tell me to simply "remove the hazard trim, pull out the cupholder assembly, clean it, lube it, and reinstall it." I got it unstuck by sticking a paper clip in there and coaxing it out, but I can't figure out how to get the hazard trim off without damaging it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i had the same problem. i didnt haev to take it out i dotn believe. or ya i did. my havard trim, the clips on the inside were allready broken from previous owner. but jsut get the cupholder open, take Ether (be careful. super flammible. make sure ignition is OFF when using it) and spray the inside to nutts. close it adn open it a few times. then spray WD-40 in there
ether is also known as a car starting fluid. it will take away the **** in there but there is no lubricant in there. thats what the WD-40 is for. good luck

The hazard trim is just the trim that goes around the cup holder, fog light switches, ECS and hazard button. It should pop right off leaving the cup holder exposed to pull out. I have noticed they get stuck a lot because people try to jam big gulps in there, but they are easy to fix.
Thanks for the info guys. But I'm still not clear on how to get the hazard trim off. Navaid told me I should take the radio out first, but I haven't got the radio removal tools. It looks like I may be able to slide a putty knife or something under the trim, but I'm afraid of scratching the wood. Any other hints? Can anyone attest to the effectiveness of spraying ether in there, followed by WD-40? Thanks!
Well here are a few clips that i found to remove the cup holder... Your going to need something like a dental pick to remove the hazard trim and with the same tool remove the little clips circled in red. here is an image that might help dont know if it may look the same with a 2000 model cuz this one is out of a 2001 model.
Yes once you take a look at the clips then you should know how to take it off. I only reason i know this is cause i damaged one of the clips that holds the radio in place and i was tryin to found a way to take out the radio. With out damaging anything else. The tool is up top on the image below. I hope you can get it fix.
