Default DBW question, need answer

i have a 01 a4 1.8t QM.

I was looking into the renn-art gt71r elim kit, however i have heard some people say going unitronics tuning and bt's are bad with DBW. What are the reasons behind this? What is wrong with the DBW system? Thanks in advance for your help

The map/boost sensor is an issue with having a BT on DBW engine, because the map/boost sensor is only on DBW engines (2000+). There are usually small differences in what the actual boost is compared to what boost the ecu is requesting.Even more so witha BT and BT tuning.. If the difference becomes too large the map/boost sensor will tell the ecu that there is either anunderboost or overboost condition and youll get put in limp mode. I think REVO has BT software that ignores the map sensor when it tries to put you into limp mode in situations like that.
Thats why people with 97-99.5 have better luck with BT tuning, cuz there is no analretentivemap/boost sensor. 97-99.5 BT engines are more prone to blowing up though because the map sensor isnt there to put you in limp mode if you should run lean for whatever reason during HIGH boost. Of course that hardly ever happens thanks to all thegreat ecu tuning available for BT's.

I've seen DBC conversion kits tho. Do those alleviate the problem?

yes it will but then you have to have standalone to run with the conversion. on my mika tune i didnt have any limp mode. i ran off both map and maf and sometimes just map sensors..
