Dealership Costs
Trip to the Audi Dealership for routine check up --> 80 mile drive
60,000 mile standard service (oil & filters) --> $315
New front pads (wanted to do rotors also) --> $265
Fixing the stuck credit card droor drawer for free and getting the loose change outta there --> PRICELESS (they wanted to charge $112, but did a little pro bono work on it)
I used to do all of the service on my WRX myself in my garage...it's definitely going to start moving that direction for the Audi.

Besides doing the service for the timing belt and the water pump, there doesn't seem to be an overwhelming reason to get any service done at the dealership. Replacing air filters is the easiest job ever, as well as changing the oil (as long as you use a good filter & a good synthetic). Brakes are pretty easy also, as long as you have the right tools. I could do the 60,000 mile service for under a $100.
I agree; going to the dealership is basically burning $$$ away. They wanted $200 to reset my keys, which took only 2 minutes to do by myself. Prices are insane and a lot of the work can be done by yourself.
The worst thing you can do as far as services like that is bring it to a dealer. If I would've brought my car to the dealer for services I've done I would be nearing half of what my car was purchased for. Audis are NOT magical automobiles and if you've worked on a WRX you can easily work on your A4.
some of the boxer engines on those wrx's are tough to work on. I mean just trying to get to the plugs. But yea dont be afriad of working on an audi, it wont bite you and its really not complicated. Good Luck
