Default derailing the avant

so i saw a pic that hiwords posted of a b5 avant with the roof rails removed, i have always thought of doing this but have constantly been worried it would leave holes where the mounts were. does anyone know if the mounts are drilled into the body or are the held on with some crazy pressure/adhesive? is it easy or does it require filler, sanding, and paint... or even sanding down the adhesive then painting?

I love the avants with the rails, esp. a black B7. [sm=smiley20.gif]

I can't answer your questions, but I like the roof rails. It looks like an A3 without it...that's not to say that A3s are not without their charm, but still. Keep it real yo.

i have no idea but my suggestions would be to look at the mountings and see if there are screws that go straight down. even if there is take one out and see wut happens.

I think the thing looks great that way. In a way, from the angle of that pic, it reminds me of the older (late 80s) Aston Martin Virage Shooting Brake (and the Virage/Vantage are one of my favorite series of cars of all time).

im pretty sure they are bolted to the roof, so that will require welding up the holes, and repaint etc
be a good time to do a black roof
