Using diesel fuel or kerosene for flushing engines crankcase has been around for years. Most don't drive it while its in there though. Pour a quart in and idle the engine for 10 minutes and then take out the plug and filter and let her drain real good. It works well. And before Seafoam was around we used to do that with type A transmission fluid.

This is the method I used to use

Pull the plugs
Turn it over a few times and drain and flush, rinse and repeat
After 4 or five flushes, the diesel should come out pretty clear
Let the car sit for an hour or 2 with the drain plug and oil filler cap off so any excess diesel can evaporate and leave the system.
Fill the engine with oil again and take it for a drive using the old filter.
Drain oil one last time and then put in your Royal purple or whatever the hell it is you put in there to run the car regularly.

This should be thorough enough.

I NEVER ran the car though, I think that's asking for trouble
