Vag com is the name of the diagnostic software(www.ross-tech.com) You are talking about an OBDII cable. Some ebay cables dont work well with vag com from what ive read in the past, but some do. Ross-tech offers an OBDII cable in some of the vag com package deals.

Default No start after disconnecting MSD 6al from 454 Big Block
Help my 2000 GMC Sierra classic SLE 454 dually wont start after taking MSD off
