'02 2.7 A6 Disconnected/Reconnected Battery now start issues
Just disconnected battery to clean posts and was disconnected for about 2 hours. Reconnected and takes about 20 tries to fire and it ran perfectly before. Once it finally starts needs to warm up to accelerate.
Does the computer system need reprogrammed after the battery has been disconnected that long? Could the ECU have gone bad. I connected the positive terminal first and then the negative. Seems like the computer isn't allowing enough fuel on cold start.
Also, a few odd things: my MIL light was on before (it's been on for a long time). Now it's not on (maybe that's a good thing). Guess it resets. And thought I would need my radio code but radio worked fine and still had stations programmed in.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Kurt

Search for throttle body recalibration. The car will go through a throttle body recalibration after a battery reconnect and turning the key to the on position. If you interfere the process and try to start, then the throttle body calibration will be off. It has been a long time so I forget the exact process, but search. You will find it.

Thanks hxgaser! Will definately search for that. I have the workshop manual so would hope it's in there. I should have figured disconnecting a battery on an Audi wouldn't be that simple. Have worked on old British cars for 40 years and so I thought I knew how to do something this simple. Guess not.
Thanks again and I will report back!
