DIY - how to replace a turbo
My turbo is gone and and I need to replace it and I'd rather do it myself than pay someone else if possible. I figure I may as well put a better than stock one in while I'm at it. I don't know much about it though as I'm just getting into this. I'm considering a K04 kit, but I don't really know. Mostly I'm just trying to figure out if it's even something I can do myself. Is it very difficult to do?
I'm not super inclined but I enjoy it. I restored an old T-Bird in highschool so I know some basics. I have a decent amount of tools, and access to my fathers collection - but mostly your basic stuff. Would I need anything specialized? I can buy stuff but idealy I'd prefer to come out cheaper than If I had the shop work on it.
hmmm...take oil. and coolant lines off...unbolt it from your manifold and downpipe...or if its earier pull the manifld out with it....replace
It shouldnt be hard...I ve removed a turbo from my mr2 a bunch of times and i dare say theres less room to work in that
