Default Does Audi offer extended warrantys besides CPO

Hi

I just got off the phone with a local Audi dealer and l askedthem about getting an extended warranty for a 2006 1.8 vert with approx 23,000 miles. All l wanted to do was to get an idea because the nicer Audi vert's for sale are from other dealers besides Audi. Just looking for a price (approx).

This dealer more or less told me that l had to speak to somebody after the Holiday and maybe he could hook me up.

Now the question is if l buy an Audi from somebody else and not a CPO from Audi does this mean that l have to pick up an extended warranty from a third party?

Thanks

Alan

I think Audi might have something, but only if the car falls within a certain age range? Maybe I'm confusing with the maintenance package offered for CPO cars that fall within that range?

Yes but only if you buy the warranty at the point of sale. I forgoed on the warranty since i figured all the expensive stuff is covered under the CPO. (except for brakes and rotors). It only covers oil changes and fluids. Waste of money actually. Better of finding a good mechanicthatused to work at an audi dealer.

Hi

Lets start all over, if you buy an Audi from a private party with the existing orig warranty in place with a lot of miles and time left, can you go to an Audi dealership and buy an extended warranty like what they give to a CPO for an additional 2 years and 100,000 miles from the point it was orig sold the first time?

Now l also realize that this is a strong incentive to buy a used car from Audi because most of their sales people have IQ's a little above the national average of a rose bush. I can't believe how desperate the dealerships are in hiring sales people with no people skills or the ability to think. I feel sometimes that they think that the buying public have no idea what's happening when in fact it's the other way around.

Thanks

Alan

You have to buy the car from the Audi Dealer to get the Audi CPO plan otherwise you only have the balance of the 50,000 mile or the 4years free maintenance. They wont sell you an additional warranty if you bought itat a non-audi dealer. That's why i opted to get my car from the Audi Dealer.

Hi

So what you are saying is that it doesn't pay to buy an Audi privately or from any other dealership but Audi.

Now l can understand why none of my friends have bought Audi's, except to lease them. I believe that BMW is the same way.

Again my problem is that in the north east (new Jersey) there are very few convertibles around and the ones that are around have either high mileage or they are some shade of grey which l can't stand looking at. Just go to a mall and look at the parking lot and all that you see is a wave of grey cars from Kia's to Mercede's but at least a Mercede's looks good in grey. Grey makes the car just look old but most people buy that color because it still looks ok dirty and they have mental masturbation that they are driving a BMW or a Mercede's.

If the warranty is crucial (as in if your not going to mod or do a lot of diy work), then you'd want to buy from a dealer. Yeah, it's a pita and you'll pay the premium for the CPO...however, if the ride has some serious problems, the CPO could save you a load of cash and headache. (depending on the local dealer's service dept)

Hi

Your 100% correct they have me by my *****. The problem is that l don't want one coming off a lease because 90% of them are bare bones with the basic options but again the extended warranty would have costed me approx $3000 and they put on new tires and detail the car and they now give 2.9% financing.

Thanks

Alan
