Default Does manual get irritating?

Hey all, I've been test driving an a4 1.8t 6spd manual and I love love the car. But I'm new to stick shift and it got really irritating at times. Would it be better if I just found an automatic tiptronic? This goes for any manual car really...

You may be getting irritated because its new for you. However, when I'm stuck in stop and go traffic and my leg is ready to fall off I get a bit irritable. If you are not using this car for competitive driving purposes then a auto/tipp would be a better choice IMO.

I guess you just answered your own question. You said it irritated you at times. If you don't want to get irritated then get an automatic. I myself was looking for a manual but couldn't find one within 200 miles when I bought mine.

Good Luck...

I was trained to drive with a manual trans back when I was 15... once you can drive stick you can drive anything. That being said, once you've got it down you hardly even think about it- shifting comes naturally. But YES- intown driving sucks!!

I feel more in control with the manual trans, but as my bad knee gets worse I long for an automatic.

Once you get used to it, it will be like a 6th sense. Only if you have a stage 2 and above clutch with an aggressive pressure plate that driving in traffic might be a pain.

I like its very freeing, yes intown does suck a littel bit but its the windy roads and the ease of accel that make it likable

Thanks everyone! I do a lot of city and highway driving so I think I'll try to find an auto. Thanks again

Very true! [:@]I try to get others to drive when going to venues where traffic is backed up for miles. I went to a demo derby ever the weekend and it took 3 days for my knee to get back to normal.
