Does my 2004 A4 have a sat tuner?
Hi all! I purchased a 2004 A4 1.8T last weekend. It is in immaculate condition both inside and out. All I knew about Audis is that they were cool, expensive cars. We'll not all are as I got a great deal on mine. I am a subscriber to Sirius satellite radio. In reading thru the owner's manual about the stereo, I don't think I have a tuner for sat radio. When I press the SAT button, it displays NO SAT RADIO. Is this indicative of not having a tuner? Even though the manual itself doesn't make it clear since it covers almost all A4s,it does have a supplement on the radiosaying all wereinstalled with a tuner. Iwasn't able to find a posting on this exact subject. Thanks!!
if you did have the tuner I think it would say "call Sirius 800-xxx-xxxx". Look in the trunk along the left wall. There may be a compartment to slide the tuner into. I am not sure because I have a cab, they are just a little different.
genebopp, thanks. I took a look but I didn't pull the lining off since it is dark out now. I'll check it out tomorrow as I really want my sat radio back in play!! It sound so much better thru the car radio than the FM receiver. And I love music and it is really important to me to have great sound system. The CDs I have sound soo much better than in my old car.
I see all kinds of tuners for a 2004 A4. I have the Sirius site up and searched on tuners and see several types. How do I know which one to get? Not that I will buy it from them, I just don't know what they look like. I see a universal SC-C1 sirius connect vehicle tuner for $49. Will this work for my car since it is universal? http://shop.sirius.com/edealinv/serv...dParentID=7870
The universal will not work. If you talk to an installer they will tell u that there needs to be an adapter for that to work with the Audi head unit. Which I have not been able to locate. If you talk to Audi they will tell you that connecting a sat. tuner not made for the Audi could mess up the loop and your ability to diag problems when CEL comes on. Check the compartment though in your trunk to see if the tuner is present. If it is present there is a jumper that it is located on the front passenger side that you have to move over one slot for it to recognize the tuner is connected.
thanks everyone for your info on a tuner for sat radio! I talked to the parts guy at the local dealer. I gave him my vin # and he said what I actually need is a control module which is a little different than a tuner but it is basically the tuner for this model. What I wasn't sure of is how it works. The price is $312 and I left a message with the service guy to talk to about how it works and the installation price. I went ahead and bought a new radio for the new car to replace the old one I had in an SUV. I just put the ant in the dash, ran the wire into the glove dept. The radio is hooked up to my vent nearest the steering wheel and the power wire runs down the side and tied up neatly in the ashtray. It works well enough for now until I decide how much I want to pay for the control module. I sure did miss my sat radio! Free radio still doesn't compare.
