door window movement problems/regulator??
Hello again. Quick question. I rolled my driver window down last night, it went down fine. Than when i parked and went to put them up, the window did not go anywhere. Made a few nasty crunching sounds and than just heard the motor run. I managed to get the window up basicaly by pullin it up, it wouldnt go any other way. I tried holding the window and hittin the switch but nothing. So what could this be? Regulator, did it come off track, gears get worn out? In the past this window was quite slow going up at times. So im thinkin something just finally took a crap on me. Let me know what ya think guys.
yep, 99% sure the regulator broke (I've changed 3 and thats what happened each time). plus the little metal line is all twisted and tied together probably. the regulator at the dealership is like $110 or something and will take 3+ hours your first time doing it.
a few are lucky, where the plastic peice on the regulator is not broken and then you just put the window back on track and straighten that metal line back out.
Good Luck!

how big of apain is this to remove and install? i have done a few when i was working at a volvo/mack semi truck place doing body work. SO i sorta know what it was like in those. But audi car is alot smaller and im sure has alot more to it. Also you know the size or torx bits it uses ? assuming thats what it is. Thanks
easy to remove, harder to install. all i remember is that you need a rivet gun to put the new regulator in. its been so long, i don't remember what u need exactly to take the regulator apart.
