Default Driving like crap again

Just have a quick question. Audi said my MAF was bad cause i had lean codes and the car was running like crap. They said 650 for a new MAF. I said F that and got one through ECS tuning and put it on. I unplugged the battery and let sit for 20 minutes to reset comp. Car still runs like Crap! When i talked to APR they said sometimes it takes the ECU 300 miles to relearn the settings. Is this true? Will it eventually get better? Im ready to sell this POS! 98 A4 1.8

When you chip a car same thing happens. I did not know that about a MAF though. Let it run, drive it
like you would normally, it should go away.
