since some of you read I just got my audi (2003 non-quattro) the thing is still in the shop. i guess the immobilizer ring in the stering column doesn't go bad often enough to keep it in stock, it had to be ordered from Germany. (going on a week now)that's per the guy that took my car in. anyways, i finally got a loner: an '07 2.0T quattro. (it's an auto, ) it's got 6k miles on it and the engine IS loud (like some of you fortunate enough to drive a new audi) well, i looked around in the glovebox and they did have the sticker in there neatly folded and found out the engine is put together in HUNGARY. (i am hungarian, by the way) not sure if the fact that it's not put together by germans have anything to do with the noise but it is definitely noiser than my 1.8T. does anyone know if the 1.8T's were assambled in germany or were those "outsourced" to another country as well? just curious...[8D]

 

Sometimes people put regular gas in loaner cars. They may not run well, but
I doubt it would be noisier

 

Just picked up an 07 A4 2.,0 last saturday. One thing i did notice is that it is louder than any car ive had b4. Not diesel loud, but defenitely louder that your average car at idle. This is my first Audi, so I never really looked into it. I just figured it was normal for the Audi??

 

Turn the air conditioner off and see if it quiets down at idle......it should.

 

The 2.0t is loud, it makes a diesel like sound and is normal. It's due to the FSI. You will hear a different sound at high rpm though, try flooring the pedal and listen to that sweet sound

 

The 2.0 fsi also runs 10.5 to 1 compression with a roller cam setup, I'm sure those 2 factors have something to do with the way it sounds.
