Default DV install question

this has probably been touched on more than a few times; tried searching for it but with no success.
2001 a4 1.8T
i just bought a forge DV and installed it. noticed that on the forge, there is a small opening on the top of the DV, whereas the stock one is just flat on top.
so can i just plug that hole up? or should i hook a vacuum line up to it?

Same as stock dv - there should be a small vac line that runs from the top of the DV across the front of the upper timing belt cover, over the alternator, to a nipple under the intake manifold, right by the oil dipstick tube. The other two larger hoses go to the same locations as the stock dv setup as well.

ok, but my stock DV did not have that top nipple for the vacuum line.
did the PO do something weird, or the vacuum line not really necessary?

Then you did not remove your dv, that was some other valve. The dv is below that one, so put that one back where it was.

every dv has a vacuum line at the top. you sure you didn't remove the 034 valve from the TIP? it kinda looks like a dv without a vacuum nipple on top.

Yup, been there before. The DV is too big to fit in those holes anyway, so it's kind of idiot proof.
