Default E-Codes

I cant seem to find this exact question with search , so here it goes.

I have an A4 1.8TQ 99

I'm looking for 1-peice headlights and I've seen a few things

There are Xeon and non Xeon housings.. but neither come with ballasts or bulbs, what is the difference between the two?

I have looked at ESCTuning.Com, ACHTuning.Com, and LLTek.Com

ESC and ACH both have Xeon housings for around $500 (pair) but no ballasts/bulbs.

The LLTek kit doesnt specify whether the HID kits comes with anything else, does anyone have this kit and know ?

I know I will have to trim up the inner fender and modify the wiring harness, but 1-peices look so much hotter.

I want them, BRIGHT, HOT, and CLEAR

For the ECS, and ACH (possibly even the LLTEK) housings, where can I get an HID conversion kit that has good quality ballast'/bulbs

Also, I have integrated headlight foglights, would these be eliminated with the new 1 peice headlights?

If so, I could just extend those wires downwards and mount foglights in the lower grill (to retain useablity of the fog light buttons)?

I know I havent posted pics yet, but the weather STILL hasnt permitted it. ITS STILL RAINING AS I TYPE! Its kind of annoying.

Thanks in advance!

There are several differences between the halogen and xenon housings. The halogen housings use H7 bulb holders which are different than the Xenon's D2S holders. Second the xenon projectors have a different focal point than the halogen. D2S capsules will fit into the H7 holder, but not very well. You have to fabricate a bracket or buy one if you want a decent fit. Using xenon in halogen projectors also doesn't produce as nice of a light output, it tends to be sort of blurry.

None of the housings will come with the xenon bulbs or ballasts. You generally have to buy a kit. I bought my kit from http://www.oemhid.com. It fits nicely in the housings an there is a tutorial to install them. It's a fair price too.

Yes you will loose useability of your fogs. I extended my wires down to the lower bumper and mounted OEM 99.5 fog lights/grills down there. They aren't plug and play though, you have to fabricate brackets.

Can you use H7 bulbs in the Xeon housings temporaily?

Thanks for your prompt response. You pretty much answered every question.

So ECSTuning would be my best bet? and a secondary HID ballast/bulb kit?

I'm not sure about that. I doubt it will work. The wiring inside is not there to just plug into the bulb. Ecstuning is where I bought my ecodes from. I bought my HID kit from ebay for 188 bucks. It's the same kit from oemhid.com though. If you are patient you can find good deals on ebay.
